How do I collect information from you?
I obtain you information when you use my website, for example, when you contact me with an enquiry about a new project, contact me through social media, comment on a blog post, or register to receive my newsletter.
I may also collect personal information if you contact me by telephone or post.
What information do I collect about you?
The personal information I collect might include your name, address, email address, IP address, and information regarding what web pages are accessed and when.
How do I use the information about you?
I may use your personal information to:
- receive/reply to an enquiry that you have made
- to carry out my obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and me
- seek your views or comments on the services I provide
- publish comment(s) that you have submitted on my blog
- notify you of changes to my services
- send you communications which you have requested and that may be of interest to you. I will not contact you for marketing purposes unless you have given your prior consent.
I may use non-personal information about you such as IP address, device-type or geographical location in order to monitor activity on my website to better understand how my website is being used, and what countries my visitors come from. This data is tracked by Squarespace and Google Analytics; for further information, see the Squarespace and Google Analytics privacy policies. I do not match your IP address to any other information that would identify you as a unique individual person.
I review retention periods for personal information on a regular basis. I will hold your personal information on my systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity, or until such time as you request that I delete your information.
Who has access to your information?
I will not sell or rent your information to third parties. I will not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
I may pass your information to my third party service providers, agents, subcontractors and other associated organisations for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on my behalf (for example to process payments or send the email newsletter). However, when I use third party service providers, I disclose only the personal information that is necessary to deliver the service and I have a contract in place that requires them to keep your information secure and not to use it for their own direct marketing purposes. I can provide information on which services have access to your data in their role as data processor for my business upon request.
When you give me personal information, I take steps to ensure that it’s treated securely.
Non-sensitive details (eg name, email address) are transmitted over the internet, and although this website and any other systems I use for data capture use SSL protection, I cannot guarantee that the data will be 100% secure when it is transmitted. As a result, while I strive to protect your personal information, I cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to me through enquiry forms, registration forms, or email enquiries, and you do so at your own risk. Once I receive your information, I take reasonable precautions to ensure its security on my systems.
Access to your information and correction
If you change email address, or any of the other information I hold is inaccurate or out of date, you can contact me here to request that I update it, or you can use the link included at the bottom of my email newsletter.
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information that I hold about you. You also have the right to request that I delete the information that I hold about you.
To make such a request, you can contact me using the form on this page, or by writing to me at David Holland Architect + Designer, Glenryn, Ladywood Road, Worcester, WR3 7SX.
Transferring your information outside of Europe
As part of the services offered to you through this website, the information which you provide to me may be transferred to countries outside the European Union (“EU”). By way of example, this may happen if any of my data processors’ servers are located in a country outside of the EU. These countries may not have similar data protection laws to the UK. By submitting your personal data, you’re agreeing to this transfer, storing or processing. If I transfer your information outside of the EU in this way, I will take steps to ensure that appropriate security measures are taken with the aim of ensuring that your privacy rights continue to be protected as outlined in this Policy.
If you use my services while you are outside the EU, your information may be transferred outside the EU in order to provide you with those services.

Commenting on my blog
Your comment and associated personal data will remain on this site until such time that I either (a) remove the comment or (b) remove the blog post. If you wish to have your comment and data removed, you may request that I do so at any time.
I may send an email newsletter from time to time, to inform subscribers about news, products and services supplied by me. Social media platforms
Communication, engagement and actions taken through external social media platforms I participate on are subject to the terms and conditions as well as the privacy policies held with each respective social media platform.
You should use social media platforms wisely and communicate/engage upon them with due care and caution in regard to your own privacy and personal details. I will ever ask for personal or sensitive information through social media platforms and encourage anybody wishing to discuss sensitive details to contact me through private communication channels such as by telephone or email.
This website may include social sharing buttons which help share web content directly from this website to the social media platform in question. By using such social sharing buttons you do so at your own discretion and understand that the social media platform in question may track and save your request to share the content through your account with them.
Shortened links in social media
I may from time to time share web links via my social media accounts. In some instances, such links may be shortened using a third-party URL shortening service. For example: https://bit.ly/2JkC9YJ.
Take caution and use good judgement before clicking any shortened URLs. Despite my best efforts to ensure only genuine URLs are published, social media platforms can be prone to spam and hacking and therefore I cannot be held liable for any damages or implications caused by visiting any shortened links.
